Well, still a cold north-east wind out there, but yesterday the sun came through and warmed us all up a bit. Butterflies made an appearance again, as did some bees.

In the garden were three species of pierid butterflies, all nectaring from crucifers. First up was this male orange tip. Frustratingly, its head is hidden in the photo.

That was feeding from honesty. Then along came a green-veined white.

Then in the front garden there was a large white on ladies smock.

As well as that was this solitary bee, covered in pollen: presumably dandelion pollen.

I don’t mind saying that the mini-meadow was looking quite a sight.

Now its all gone cold again. Brrrrrrr!
