Over the last few weeks some rather nice flowers have emerged around Bishopthorpe. Here are some pictures. IMG_8732

Poppies in a rape field sit very nicely. The poppies have germinated I presume due to the earthworks associated with the new sewer which now runs through this field and was dug in last year.

The Ings were also full of Meadow Cranesbill and Meadowsweet.

The local orchids on the cycle path have emerged too; spotted and pyramidal. There are a decent number of spikes of both, though they have moved around a bit, with some patches increasing and others decreasing. Some pyramidal seem to have been overgrown or shaded out, whilst the spotted orchid patch right by the path has been mown away. However, the others appear to be doing well.
